There are a number of good Northern Chinese restaurants in Sydney and the Kensington Peking Restaurant is one of them. The clean, simple and smallish space is filled with lots of tables, topped with good linen, although quite cramped, it is still comfortable, and the noise level allows for conversation. The menu is comprehensive and includes dishes from Szechuan, Shanghai and Peking. Start with a selection of cold meats, (the texture of the jellyfish is superb) progress to dumplings and shallot pancakes and finish with Peking Duck and San Choy Bow. Service is fast, efficient and impersonal. Value for money is good and you could do a lot worse for a quick lunch. Note: BYO.
