Compared to most Melbourne restaurants Jacques Reymond seems a century and a continent away. Walking into a French country manor with high ceilings, pastel paints, beautiful carpets, linen, glasses, cutlery, etc. you can’t help but relax, sigh contently and wait for the feast to begin.
The average age of the clientele is higher, the noise level lower and the wine list longer. Jacques food is simply superb, innovative, classic French with a modern Australian twist, Jacques, a keen motorbike enthusiast, has mastered the art of complementing flavours, managing to propel seemingly simple dishes from the ordinary to the extra ordinary. The presentation is top class and the service very attentive. The wine list is a wonderful read and one of the best in Melbourne. This is an expensive restaurant for Melbourne standards, but certainly great value for money.
